Welcome to Capitoline Coins
Coin collecting is one of the most interesting and rewarding hobbies. I have dedicated this site to the online publication of my personal coin collection of Late Roman coins.
I wish to share this information with the hope of adding knowledge to the coin collecting world. I invite you to click the “My Collection” button to view this collection. If you have any questions or comments please contact me at

A Little About Me
My name is Rick Morton. In 1982 I discovered some early coins of Canada, a 1904 cent and 1936 quarter. My curiosity exploded from there! After collecting coins of Canada and USA for six years I graduated to collecting Roman coins.
I purchased my first roman coin in 1988, a follis of Diocletian showing Genius on the reverse (Cyzicus Ric 10a in My Collection) dated c. 295-6. After studying these coins for several months, I decided to specialize in the Tetrarchy and Constantinian eras, due to the relatively low cost and availability of the coins. This did lead into acquiring many books both involving coins and history.
I do recommend a balance between the two. A well-written biography, or general history book can bring much knowledge for many coins.
